BIO INSECTICIDES

CYD-X

– Bio Insecticide for Control of the Codling Moth

CYD-X is a highly efficient preparation for the biological control of the codling moth (Cydia pomonella), based on a Cydia pomonella granulovirus (CpGV). CYD-X was the first product for codling moth control based on the isolate CpGV-M. CYD-X has been successfully applied for more than 20 years in conventional and IP programs. The virus can already kill the larvae in their early instars, before they bore into the fruit. With regular applications of lower dosages of Madex an effective long-term control can be achieved by killing the larvae at later instars.

Versatile use

RhizoVital® 42 is insurance and therefore always has to be applied preventively as early as possible in the plant development. The good miscibility with other crop protection products and fertilizers facilitates combination with almost all application processes. Thus the product can be applied using different application methods like: seed treatment, drenching, spraying (on soil surface), mixing into soils and substrates, injection into hydroponic and fertigation systems and root dipping.

Advantages of a Baculoviral Bio Insecticide

  • Low application rates

  • CYD-X is compatible with most commonly applied crop protection products. Avoid copper and pH over 8.5

  • CYD-X is replicated inside the host as the infection increases. When the larva dies it liquifies and more virus is released into the natural environment

  • CYD-X only target the codling moth, allowing beneficials to assist in managing  crop pests in an integrated program

About Codling moth

Codling moth (Cydia pomonella) is one of the world′s most serious pests infesting pome fruit. It is highly adaptable to various climatic conditions and environments. Resistance towards several chemical insecticides has been reported. Therefore, alternative strategies are required to successfully control this pest. The larvae chew their way into the fruits, usually by entering at the blossom end, the stalk end or at contact points between fruits. Their spiral tunnel finally leads towards the core and is often a source for secondary infections.

Crops affected by Codling moth

  • Apple

  • Pear

  • Walnut

  • Apricot

  • Peach

Helicovex

– Managing Corn Ear Worm Population

Helicovex provides growers with a unique mode of action to defend their corn, outdoor hemp or cannabis crop from the feeding of corn earworm. With an estimated 30-40% of the pests having some level of resistance to commonly applied products, Helicovex is an attractive alternative. Developed from a natural baculovirus that infects and kills corn earworm larva, Helicovex does not harm beneficials in the crop when used alone.

Applied at early moth flight when egg laying begins, Helicovex is ingested by the young larva and infects the larva. The larva stop feeding and die in 5-7 days. Due to the life cycle of the corn earworm several applications would be required approximately 7-12 days apart.

Helicovex has good compatibility with most common crop protection products and can be integrated into a program to offer multiple modes of action. Transmission of the virus can be either by horizontal or vertical. When exposed to a low dose, the larva will be infected and become unthrifty. As they evolve thru their life cycle the infection will grow and passed to emerging generations.

With no MRL Helicovex can be applied up to harvest.

Loopex (Greenhouse)& Loopex FC (Field)

Loopex is an insecticidal virus for the control of cabbage looper (Trichoplusia ni) on vegetables. It kills the larvae by ingestion and has an additional long-term effect on pest population reduction. Loopex is a valuable resistance management tool that can be included in any integrated pest management program (IPM), especially for the control of insecticide resistant populations.

Benetifs

  • While Loopex effectively infects and kills young larvae of Trichoplusia ni, the virus is also lethal for older larval instars in the long term.

  • AcNPV is a naturally occurring insecticidal virus and is harmless to beneficial insects, bees and other non-target organisms.

  • Loopex offers more flexibility for the crop producers. The active substance is not included in the residue tolerance lists for crops grown for export.

  • AcNPV offers a different mode of action, which can be an important mean to avoid and/or break resistances.

  • Loopex is compatible with most common pest control products and can be utilized in an integrated program as an additional mode of action for resistance management.

Spodovir Plus

Spodovir Plus is a biological alternative for the control of fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda) populations. Due to its unique mode of action, Spodovir Plus is an important resistance management tool which can be included in any integrated pest management program (IPM). Conventional and organic growers will find Spodovir Plus is a valuable weapon to combat this important agricultural pest and is also an easy to use liquid formulation.

Benefits:

  • Spodovir Plus is a great addition to an IPM program.

  • Spodovir Plus is compatible with most common pesticides and can be easily tank mixed, reducing the need for additional application passes in the field

  • For export commodities, Spodovir Plus allows for late season application to protect crops as it has no maximum residue limits (MRLs).

  • Offers highly effective biological control and does not harm beneficial insects

Loopovir

Loopovir offers highly effective biological control of the soybean looper larvae by limiting feeding damage and controlling soybean looper populations. Due to its unique mode of action, Loopovir is also an important resistance management tool which can be included in any integrated pest management program (IPM). Conventional and organic growers will find Loopovir is a valuable weapon to combat this important agricultural pest.

Benefits:

  • Loopovir is a great addition to an IPM program

  • Loopovir is compatible with most common pesticides and can be easily tank mixed, reducing the need for additional application passes in the field

  • With no MRL Loopovir allows late season application to protect crop during intense infestations

  • Loopovir does not harm beneficial insects, allowing them to help manage pest populations and reducing flare ups of new pests.
